Vit spælir... Tú skal vera millióner?

Góðan dag.

I doubt you know this already if you've even taken the time to read this, which I can assure you really isn't the best way to spend your time, but I love languages. They teach you so much about the culture of a country: how it works, the structure, how people like to think of themselves there. For example, Spanish sounds sexy and is actually very straight-forward for an English speaker, whilst Icelandic emphasises the first syllable of every word and is extremely conservative, almost no change really from Old Norse. That's what makes it beautiful. I won't even touch on Finnish, for that is extremely confusing mutta suomi on vanha ja kaunis kieli.

I've always thought that Faroese was fairly similar to Icelandic and even though I doubt it will help me at all I've downloaded a free 417-page guide to the language. You know, I might actually learn this with you. That's something I've always wanted to do. I might teach you all some Faroese as I learn it via my blog.

Now - the title. Today at 8PM UTC I am hosting the seventh and final episode of the first series of my game of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Just for fun, I translated the title quickly to Faroese - it literally means "You want to be a millionaire?". I'm always searching for contestants from around the world to win £1m on my show - it's only easy if you know the answer! We had our highest winner so far last week when Caprice came along and won £64,000 on a question which basically asked "When were the Stonewall riots?".

So... Vit spælir tú skal vera millióner? ("Let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?").

Don't worry, I won't torment you with this all the time. But I have got a second series coming up in January 2021, which I can get you into.

Farvæl!

My blog

To be perfectly honest, I'm sure this will be pointless to most of you.

I needed a place to share what I think and what I feel, outside of the PA Weekly and outside of the Mariner Review. Also to keep you updated on what happens with the good ol' "Magnus Torkelsen's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" (well, don't we all?). But my questions are difficult. No-one's got past the £64,000 mark yet. We're starting a second series in January 2021.

I have now been hired as a journalist for the Politics Amino Weekly. I hope to be giving a little more news. Thinking about it, 31 December's coming soon: I might write an article about Brexit on that day. Maybe Channel 4 should bring back Deal or No Deal for a special edition on that day. Or maybe on 12 December, I'll write about one year since the general election. It only feels like yesterday.

Hey-ho: next year'll be good. Millionaire's going into 2021, and my candidacy for Logopedia adminship also looks to be on the up. I can only hope that next year will be better than this one.
